[5050] Homer W. "Bud" Bigelow, 87, went home to be with the Lord May 21, 2006. Born in Akron, Bud Bigelow lived in the Akron/Cuyahoga Falls area his entire life. In 1937 he joined the Ohio National Guard and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific with the 37th Division. Bud had been employed by Akron Equipment and retired from Akro Mold. He was a member of Junior O.U.A.M., American Legion Charles Faust Post 281, 37th Division Akron Chapter, and Northwest Ave. Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, and mother, Elsie Bigelow; brother, Elmer Lee Bigelow; sister, Marilyn Bigelow; and grandson, Allen Ross Bigelow. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane (Syx) Bigelow; son, William Allen (Waynetta) Bigelow; daughters, Claudia J. (Jeff) Davis and Melissa J. (Mark) Hooverman; grandchildren, Heather Davis, Holly (Drew) Davis, Anne Haire, Becky Bigelow, Debbra (Travis) Robertson, Jenifer (Hans) Frnka, Marissa (Chris) Dove, Kelsie and Audrey Hooverman; great-grandchildren, Matthew Ferrance, Conor Wm. Robertson, and Crystal and Jayden Haire; eight brothers; and two sisters. Funeral service Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Northwest Ave. Church of Christ, 737 Northwest Ave., Tallmadge, with Pastor Scott Baker officiating. Entombment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens where military rites will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. Friends may call at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Northwest Ave. Church.
