This is the Andrew Lester who is listed as one of the 8 men who migrated from Gloucester, a town on the eastern coast of Massachusetts (Cape Ann) to New London, Connecticut, along with Robert Isbell."Andrew Lester, the first representative of the name and family in America was a member of the Puritan group. It is thought that he came to New England about 1640 with a company of Welsh gentlemen which was headed by John Winthrop, Jr. The group was known as the 'Blynman Party', the Rev. Blynman being the spiritual leader of the group. Andrew, although he came with this group from Wales, was probably related to the Lesters in the neighboring county of Cheshire. The first definite record we have of him is a record of the birth of his first child, born in Gloucester in 1642; the next is of his appointment Jan. 7, 1643, as constable, an office which at that time was one of importance. Andrew was made a freeman May 10, 1643, and was a proprietor in 1649."
"He had a house on the 'neck of house lots' and a lot on Planters Neck. On Dec. 26, 1648 he was given a license to keep a 'house of entertainment' (Inn) and to sell wine and 'strong water' there. In 1651 he sold his property to Clement Coldon, and moved with a company that went to a settlement called Pequot, now New London, Conn., where on the 19th of October, 1650, grants of land were made to Mr. Blynman, Andrew Lester and others. Early in 1651, New Street, in the rear of the town plot, was opened for the Cape Ann Company. It was cut into house lots and took the name of Cape Ann Street. The lots on this street were nine in number, of six acres each. Andrew had Lot #4. We know little of his life in New London, but in 1668 he was constable and collector for that town."

A longtime Port Richmond restaurateur, Josephine Bottiglieri dies at 86
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Port Richmond native Josephine Bottiglieri, 86, a beloved sister and aunt who was like a mother to her siblings, nieces and nephews, died Wednesday in the Carmel Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Dongan Hills.
Born Josephine Savastano, she lived most of her life in Port Richmond before retiring and moving to Grasmere in 1999. She had lived in Carmel Richmond since 2007.
Mrs. Bottiglieri grew up across the street from Gene's Restaurant, one of Staten Island's oldest restaurants, which she operated with her late husband, Gene, from 1964 until 1996. It closed in 1997. They took the restaurant over from her father in law, also Gene, who had run it since 1936.
"Mrs. B.," as she was known by her staff, was the co-owner and bookkeeper of the restaurant. Gene's was in business for more than 61 years. Many of its signature dishes were her creation, one of which was the Chicken Parmigiana White, which was made with wine instead of tomato sauce.
Mrs. Bottiglieri and her husband enjoyed eating in the finest restaurants in New York City on the days their restaurant was closed. She also had a passion for travel, usually leaving the country several times each year.
Although she never cooked in the restaurant, she was the head chef in her own kitchen. For many years she was the sole cook for every holiday and entertained more than 25 people for holidays routinely.
She enjoyed Atlantic City and spending summers at the Jersey Shore, where she owned a summer residence.
Mrs. Bottiglieri was known to shop six days a week. She often bought clothing for everyone in her family, even buying things that didn't fit anyone in her family, knowing someday someone would need it.
"She had a heart of gold," said her nephew, Peter E. Montanti,'' noting that she called him the apple of her eye. "She was the most generous person I knew, always finding good in a person and never having a bad thing to say about someone -- a true peacemaker.''
She always had a special spot in her heart for the clergy, especially the Daughters of Divine Charity, The Carmelite Sisters and priests of her parish, Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, New Dorp.
Her husband, Gene, died 1996. Mrs. Bottiglieri is survived by her sisters, Marie Licata and Rosemary Montanti; a brother, Anthony Savastano, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday from the Hanley Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
