Blanche "Chyrel" Dreggors, cherished daughter, sister, wife and mother went home to be with the Lord on August 5, 2008. Chyrel was born in Eustis, Florida on April 23, 1939 to Mable and the late Bert Royal.
She grew up in Barberville where she attended Barberville and Pierson elementary and middle schools. She graduated from DeLand High School in 1957. While at DeLand High she was president of the National Honor Society and Keyettes, vice-president Student Council and treasurer of the Latin and Dramatics Clubs.
Chyrel is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 49 years, James "Richard" Dreggors and their children, Rick (LeighAnna) Dreggors, Longwood, Mike (Rose Rivera) Dreggors, South Daytona and Sabrina (Mike) Brees, DeLand. Her beloved grandchildren, David, Wyatt and Leighton Dreggors and Madeline and Caroline Brees. She is also survived by her mother, Mable Royal, Barberville; and her brother, Clifford (Nancy) Royal, Hockley, Texas; as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.
Chyrel opened and managed Watson Realty, where she served as president of the DeLand and West Volusia Board of Realtors in 1980. She and her husband started Dreggors Construction in 1977, where she worked alongside him until her death. She was a member of the DeLand Garden Club where she served as a past president of the Pansy Circle. She was a member of the Ex Libris Book Club, a member of several bridge groups and also served on the Board of Directors for The House Next Door. She was a former leader and member of Bible Study Fellowship. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church, DeLand where she served as a deacon, elder and member of various committees. Chyrel devoted her life to her family, friends and God. She enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time at the beach and traveling. She was an amazing woman who touched so many lives. Chyrel never knew a stranger; she befriended everyone and judged no one. She was a wonderful messenger of God, not because of what she would say, but how she lived her life.
A memorial service in her honor is planned for Tuesday, August 12th at 5:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, DeLand with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church-Building Fund and Hospice of Volusia/Flager Counties. Allen-Summerhill is in charge.
