Richard Dreggors
February 10, 1938 ~ January 19, 2023 (age 84)
James Richard Dreggors of DeLand Florida passed away on January 19, 2023. Mr. Dreggors was born in DeLand on February 10, 1938. He was the son of Clarence and Dorothy Dreggors of DeLeon Springs.
The youngest of six, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers David, Paul and Charles Dreggors, as well as his sisters, Ruth Sorenson and Vivian Copeland. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 49 years, the former Blanche Chyrel Royal who preceded him in death on August 5, 2008. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Sabrina Dreggors Brees and son James Michael Dreggors.
He is survived by his son Richard Carroll Dreggors, son-in-law Michael Brees, grandsons David, Wyatt and Leighton Dreggors, granddaughters Madeline and Caroline Brees, brother-in-law Clifford (Nancy) Royal, as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Dreggors graduated from DeLand High School in 1956 and from the University of Florida with a degree in Building Construction in 1960. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity at the University of Florida. Richard grew up in a family of contractors and after working for various construction supply firms he opened Dreggors Construction in DeLand in 1977, which he operated until 2021. He was considered one of the finest home builders in Volusia County.
Mr. Dreggors was active in his community, serving in several positions at the First Presbyterian Church of DeLand as a Deacon, Elder and leader of adult bible study. He was also a member of the Rotary Club of DeLand and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award. He enjoyed tennis, golf, fishing and hunting.
A service for Richard will be held February 11, 2023, at 1pm at First Presbyterian Church of DeLand. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Volusia/Flagler Counties Boys and Girls Club in memory of his daughter Sabrina Brees toward the construction of the "Breesway" pavilion in honor of Sabrina, donations can be made at https://bgcvfc.org/how-to-donate/, or to the Ghana West Africa Medical Mission founded by Richard's long time personal physician, Dr. Lyle Wadsworth, donations can be made at http://ghanaafricanmedicalclinic.org/donate.html.

Ben Russell Walker

Ben Russell Walker, 89, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, February 6, 2001, at his residence following a short illness. A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he was a retired chief registrar for Pierce County after 25 years if service and was a farmer. He was a member of the Pierce County Farm Bureau, the Pierce County Nursing Home Board, the former Pierce County Hospital Authority and the Pierce County Hunting Club. He was also a former chairman of the Pierce County FFA committee. He was a son of the late E. Fleming and Cassie Sweat Walker and was also preceded in death by his wife, Malissa Ann Dixon Walker, who passed away in 1987 and by a daughter, Shealy Greene, who passed away in 1997. Survivors are three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra (Nelson) Whitaker of Blackshear; Anne (Tom) Lane of Marietta; Patsy (Jimmy) Walker of Jacksonville; a son, Derek Walker of Blackshear; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Walker were held Friday morning, Feb. 9, 2001, at 11 a.m. from the Person-Treadwell Chapel. Interment was in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Walker was held Thursday evening, Feb. 8, 2001, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
