Howard Doyle Bailey, Sr., 84, of Kensett, Arkansas passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019. He was born in Kensett on January 6, 1935 to Doyle and Verla Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Lois Bailey; and son, Steven Craig Bailey. He is survived by his son Howard Bailey, Jr. and wife, Sheila of Kensett.
Howard was a member of the U.A.W. for over 30 years and worked at Kohler Manufacturing in Searcy. He was also a retired firefighter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to tell jokes and play pranks on people. Howard was a loyal family man and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. The family asks that all who attend the service, please dress casual in honor of Pop's wishes.

RITES SCHEDULED THURSDAY FOR CAPT. PAUL CONE
Funeral services for Capt. Paul Cone, 63, Jupiter , secretary-treasurer of the Jupiter Inlet District Commission since 1942, who died at a West Palm Beach hospital Sunday morning, will be held ta 3 pm Thursday at the Jupiter Congregational Church with the Rev. Austin Guild, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Jupiter Cemetery.
He was born at Seville, and before coming to West Palm Beach in 1912, he operated one of the first gas-operated mail and freight boats on the St. John River. He held the fourth engineer's license issued by the state.
At West Palm Beach in operated, on Lake Worth, the first ferry boat in Palm Beach County for the late Capt. Fred DeBerry. He moved to Jupiter in 1932 where he operated at charter boat. From 1942 to 1947 he was water works engineer at Camp Murphy.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth L. Cone; a daughter, Mrs. W. L. Blocker, Jupiter; a son, James Paul Cone, Oak Ridge, Tennessee; a brother, Seth Cone, Cocoa; ; two sister, Ruth Cone Barker, Holly Hill and Mrs. Rose Brady; Miami; three nephews, Carl T. Cone, Belle Glade, Clarence Cone, Cocoa, and Page Brady, Miami; and a niece, Mrs Eunice Smith Oak Hill, Tenn.
Pallbearers to be Neal DuBois, Henry DuBois, John DuBois, Harry Aicher, Roy Rood and Dan Devine.
Ferguson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

This company was formed as a cavalry troop and was originally called "Atlantic and Gulf Guards." It was organized in Pierce County, Georgia as a volunteer company in 1860.
Ordered into Confederate service September 29, 1861. Organized near Blackshear, Georgia. Arrived at Brunswick, Georgia October 4, 1861, and was mustered into Confederate service October 6, 1861. Ordered to St. Simon Island, Georgia October 19, 1861, and was attached to the 26th Regiment Georgia Infantry February 16, 1862. Term of enlistment was for six months, at the expiration of which time it was mustered out at Waynesville, Georgia. Reported at Blackshear, Georgia soon afterwards, reorganized and entered the service of the Confederate States for the war.
Sweat, William S. -- Private - September 29, 1861. Mustered out March 31, 1862. Enlisted as a private in Company G, 4th Regiment Georgia Cavalry (Clinch's), May 1, 1862. Transferred to Clinch's Battery Georgia Light Artillery April 1, 1864. Roll for October 31, 1864, last on file, shows him absent, sick. Paroled at Thomasville, Georgia May 21, 1865.
