Guy Thomas Peshek Sr.
Guy Thomas Peshek, Sr. passed away on May 5, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 13th, 2014, 11am at the Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church, with burial to follow with military honors at Daytona Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12th, 2014 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service starting at 6:30 PM at Cardwell, Baggett & Summers Funeral Home and Crematory.
He was a native of South Daytona and a lifetime resident. After graduating from St. Paul's High School, Guy enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. After two terms of enlistment, he returned home and began working for the U. S. Postal Service. Guy retired as a Supervisor after 35 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was active in his community and church. Guy was a member of the South Daytona Planning and Zoning Board, served on the South Daytona City Council for six years, and was Vice Mayor of South Daytona for four years. He was President of Local 1482 of the National Association of Letter Carriers for ten years, was State Vice President of the Florida Association of Letter Carriers, and was President of Local 353 of the National Association of Postal Supervisors. Guy was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Basilica where he was a Eucharistic Minister and President of the Home and School Association. Guy was a member of the American Legion and served as Grand Knight of Council 1395 of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn, his three sons, Guy, Jr., Robert, and David, his daughter-in-laws Linda and Renee, and eight grandchildren.
