Brattleboro- Theresa Mary Nehring, 68, of Wilsons Woods Road, died peacefully Monday evening, December 28, 2009 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Nehring was born in Fairhaven, Massachusetts on October 8, 1941, the daughter of Francisco and Genevieve (Peters) DeSouza. She was raised and educated in Fairhaven attending Fairhaven High School.
A resident of the Brattleboro area since October of 1976, she went on to graduate from the Thompson School of Nursing in Brattleboro in 1979 where she received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree.
She had been employed at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital where she retired from in 2005 due to her failing health. She was remembered as a dedicated and compassionate caregiver and for her faithful service at BMH.
Of her pastimes and interests, she enjoyed cooking, eating and time shared with her family and friends.
On October 30, 1976 in Brookline, Vermont she was married to Robert Nehring who predeceased her in 1993. She was first married to George Perry of Fairhaven.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Simson and her husband Jim of Brattleboro, and Deborah Souza of Massachusetts, one son, Chris Perry and his significant other, Judy Haynes of Long Island, New York, her grandson, Spencer Haynes of Brattleboro, one brother, Richard J. Souza of New Bedford, Massachusetts, her longtime best friend, Mary Ann (Rosie) Runge of Newfane and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Frank F. Souza and a sister, Joan Souza Parker.
In accordance with Mrs. Nehring's final wishes, there are no formal funeral services. Committal Rites and burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Townshend will take place in the springtime when the cemetery reopens.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Nehring's name may be made to, A Special Student Scholarship, Saint Michael's School, 48 Walnut Street, Brattleboro, Vermont 05301, in care of Elaine Beam, Principal.

Funeral services for Mrs. Katie H. Tyson, 73, of 109 Lynette Dr., West Monroe, were to be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of West Monroe with the Revs. Morgan Greer and Frank Smith officiating.
Burial was to be in Delhi Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Tyson died at St. Francis Hospital Sunday after a long illness.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lois Glascock, Mrs. Juanita Heckford, both of West Monroe, and Mrs. Lavonne Boruk of Columbia, S.C.; four sons, Clifford Tyson of Shreveport, Edgar Tyson of Springhill, Chester Tyson of Dalton, Ga., and Billy Tyson of Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. Birdie Silk of Rayville; 37 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Winston Glascock, Jerry Barton, Robert Tyson, Bob Grer, Michael Matheau and Randy Wollsey.
