Harry M. Blake, 64, 1031 Church St. died at his home this morning. He was born Feb 5, 1886, in Sparta, and had been a resident of this city for 31 years. He was employed as a machinist at the Faibanks Morse and Co. Mr Blake was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary A. Blake; two sons, August and Leo Blake, Beloit; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret LaBree and Mrs Rosella Osborn, Beloit, Mrs Mildred Heckert, Milwaukee; three grandchildren, a brother, Frank Blake, Havre, Mont.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Saturday in the E. A. Daley Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas Church. The Rev. T. A. O'Reilly officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:15 p.m.
Friday in the funeral home.

Compton, Frances DeSalles Dotson, the beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away November 27, 2008 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gordon B. Compton in 2003. Frances was born October 20, 1921 in Jodi, West Virginia and graduated from West Virginia Tech. She taught high school English, French and physical education until the beginning of WWII, then taught folk dancing for the 4H Club in Ohio and West Virginia. She married her beloved husband Col. Gordon B. Compton (USAF) following the war. During their 57 precious years together, Frances and Gordon traveled the world and raised their five children, finally choosing Wichita as their permanent home in 1965. Frances was an American Red Cross volunteer, US Air Force Family Service volunteer, retired foster parent and retired 4-H Club agent. She was active in the Military Officers Association Auxiliary and the McConnell Officers Wives Club. Frances is survived by her 5 children and their families: Jane (Sonny) Joseph of San Antonio, TX, G. Bryan (Glenda) Compton of Overland Park, KS., R. Tom (Nancy) Compton of Wichita, Joseph (Shirley) Compton of Wichita, Katy (Layne) Carter of Wichita; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Cornerstone for the loving care they provided Frances over the last several years. There will be a family visitation from 3 -5 pm on Sunday, November 30 at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorial services are at 1 pm Monday, December 1 at Resthaven Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at The American Red Cross.
