Mrs. Lonnie Robert (Thelma Avant) Carter, resident of Hastings since 1925, died here today after a brief illness.
Besides her husband, three children, Sara, Ann and Thelma Roberta, survive at Hastings.
Born in Walterboro, S.C., Mrs. Carter attended high school there and following graduation took a nurse's training course at Ackerman-Turner Sanitarium.
She was married to Mr. Carter at Walterboro in 1922 and since 1925 has resided near Hastings.
For a short time, following the death of her mother, she lived with her uncle and aunt, Senator and Mrs. R. L. Black, Sr., of Gainesville.
She is also survived by her father, Stephen Avant, two sisters, Mrs. W. E. Fripp and Miss Italine Avant, all of Walterboro and two brothers, Randolph Avant of Walterboro and Joe Avant of Hastings.
Funeral services will be held in Walterboro, where interment will be made.

RISEDEN, EARL - age 78 of Powell, passed away Monday, February 2, 2004 at his residence. He was retired from Acklin Stamping in Toledo, Ohio after 33 years of loyal service. He will be missed and loved by many. Preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Riseden son: Barry Riseden parents: Dave and Ida Riseden siblings: Jerry Stinnette, Maxine Baird, Thelma Rauhuff, Dimple Smith, Eugene Riseden, and Elmer Riseden. In loving memory he leaves behind sons and daughter-in-law: Terry Riseden and Billy and Debbie Riseden of Claxton daughters and son-in-law: Shery Riseden Allen and Karl, and Lisa Riseden Uthe of Claxton grandchildren: Heather and Josh Arwood of New York, Samuel Riseden of the U.S. Army, Crystal Uthe, Sara Riseden, Phillip Worley, Simona Uthe, and Benjam Earl Riseden all of Claxton great grandchild: Savanah Thompson sisters: Ruby Posey, Glines Ward, and Margie and Fred Rauhuff. Way to many nieces and nephews to list, but not to love. The family will receive friends at Woodhaven Funeral Home Thursday, February 5, 2004 from 6-8 PM. Graveside services will be held Friday at Noon at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens is in charge of arrangements.
