Mrs. Lucy Douglas Strickland, 78, wife of the Rev. Raymond M. Strickland of Blackshear, died Saturday morning at the Satilla Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
A Ware County native, and a daughter of Dan D. Douglas and Bessie McCarthy Lee; also
the father that raised her was William M. Lee . She was preceding in death by a son, Robert Wesley Driggers, and two grandchildren, Melissa Ann Driggers and Wesley Robert Driggers Jr.
She resided in Ware County most of her life and was a member of Woodard Chapel Congregational Methodist Church. She was a retired Spatola Footwear employee.
Survived by her husband Raymond M. Strickland of Blackshear,
a daughter, Dorothy Pittman of Waycross;
two sons,
Eugene Driggers of Arcadia, Fla.
Earl Driggers of Waycross;
a stepdaughter, Karen Clark of Blackshear;
a stepson, William E. Strickland of Hoboken;
three sisters,
Annie Howell and Mary Mixon, both of Waycross, and Katie Garrett of Cross, S.C.;
10 grandchildren,
Daniel Pittman, Marilyn West, Clayton Pittman, Alene Richardson, Dorothy Driggers, Arnold Driggers, Earl Junior Driggers, Robert Driggers, David Driggers and Thomas Driggers;
four great-grandchildren,
Lucy Thomas, Christopher West, Violet Richardson and Victoria Richardson;
and eight step-grandchildren, William E. Strickland Jr., Ramond Matthew Strickland II, Melody Worton, Effie N. Strickland, Karen Strickland, Michael Henderson, Eddie Clark and Benjamin Clark.
The funeral for Mrs. Lucy D. Strickland, 78, wife of the Rev. Raymond M. Strickland of Blackshear, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Old Ruskin Church.
Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements are with Music Funeral Home.
Note: Her mother was first married to Daniel Douglas in 1919, Ware County.
She married William Lee in 1924.
